IO-Link Technology

IO-Link is the first globally standardized IO-technology (IEC 61131-9) to communicate with sensors and actuators. Its powerful point-to-point communication is based on the long-known 3-conductor connection and does not require any special cabling. IO-Link is not a field bus, but rather a logical next development of communication between sensors and actuators. Rechner IO-Link sensors can communicate with either the IO-Link communication protocol or use a traditional transistor output to signal an actuator.

IO-Link allows for the real time monitoring of the sensor signal, programming of the ON-switching point with more accuracy than is acheiveable using a 20-turn potentiometer, and programming of the hysteresis. IO-Link also allows for the easy programming of sensors with new functionality. Rechner Sensor models with IO-Link can be programmed to have NO or NC outputs, and to have an ON-delay and an OFF-delay timer at the same time.

IODD Files

Each IO-Link device has an IODD File. This is a device description file used by an IO-LINK program containing information about the manufacturer, article number, functionality etc. IODD files are used by an IO-Link program or PLC to communicate with the sensor. This information can be easily read and processed by the user. Every device can be uniquely identified by both the IODD and via an internal device ID.

The IODD files (ZIP) for your device can be found free of charge in the central multi-vendor database IODDfinder.

Documents

IODD files are loaded into the IO-Link software and instruct the software how to interact with the hardware.
