Function
AC/DC Powered
This sensor can be powered by an AC or DC power source. The sensor can accept anywhere between 20 and 250 Volts in Alternating or Direct Current.
The sensor switches between a low-current and a high-current state:
- In the low-current state, the sensors is described as OPEN.
- In the high-current state, the sensor is described as CLOSED.
In the sensor's OPEN state, the sensor will only allow a few mA (less than 2.5 mA) of current through. This is just enough current to allow the sensor to turn on and function, but not enough to switch a load device such as a relay.
In the sensor's CLOSED state, the sensor will allow up to 100mA of current through. This is enough current to switch most all relays. It is also enough to turn on other load devices such as a light or a siren.
Timer
The KA1742 sensor is a low-cost level sensor for applications that require a timer function. The built-in timer of the KA1742 sensor is adjustable between 30 seconds and 10 minutes. A diagram of the sensor's output function is here:
