High Performance Sensors (..-HP)
Green
For High Performance sensors, a green LED indicates that the sensor has power. In this state, the sensor is not detecting material. The Normally Open output will be open and the Normally Closed output will be closed.Amber
An amber LED color indicates that the sensor is detecting material. The Normally Open output will be closed and the Normally Closed output will be openDark
A dark LED indicates that the sensor does not have power. This does not apply to NormLine (-NL) models of sensors. For NL models, please refer to the sections below.NormLine Sensors (DC - KAS-70/80-..-NL)
Dark
When the sensor has power and is not detecting material, the LED will be dark. This indicates that the Normally Open output will be open and the Normally Closed output will be closed.Amber
An amber LED indicates that the sensor is detecting material. The Normally Open output will be closed and the Normally Closed output will be open.NormLine Sensors (AC/DC - KAS-90-..-NL)
Dark
When the sensor has power and the LED is dark, this indicates that the output is open (the sensor is in a low-power state and will not switch a relay or power a load).Amber
An amber LED indicates that the output is closed (the sensor output is in its high-power state and will switch a relay or power a load).Flashing Amber (NL models with timers)
When the LED is flashing, this indicates that the sensor's timer function is activated. Because timers can be delay-OFF (a delay to switch states after material is no longer in front of the sensor) or delay-ON (a delay to switch states after product is in front of the sensor), this LED status cannot tell you if the sensors output is open or closed but it can be worked out.For these sensors that only have a single Normally Open or a single Normally Closed output, the terms delay-ON and delay-OFF can be confusing. It is worth describing each of the four combinations that are possible for clarity:
- A Normally Open sensor with a delay-ON timer.
- A Normally Open sensor with a delay-OFF timer.
- A Normally Closed sensor with a delay-ON timer.
- A Normally Closed sensor with a delay-OFF timer.
1. A Normally Open sensor with a delay-ON timer:
While the sensor is not detecting material, the output will be open and the amber LED will be off.
When the sensor detects material, the timer will start and the output will remain open. The amber LED will flash while the timer is running.
After the timer reaches the programmed value, the output will close. The amber LED will be solid.
When the sensor no longer detects material, the output will open and the timer will reset.
2. A Normally Open sensor with a delay-OFF timer:
While the sensor is not detecting material, the output will be open and the amber LED will be off.
When the sensor detects material the output will close and the amber LED will be solid.
When the sensor no longer detects material, the timer will start and the output will remain closed. The amber LED will flash while the timer is running.
After the timer reaches the programmed value, the output will open and the amber LED will be off.
Interrupting power to the sensor will reset the timer immediately.
3. A Normally Closed sensor with a delay-ON timer:
While the sensor is not detecting material, the output will be closed and the amber LED will be solid.
When the sensor detects material, the timer will start and the output will remain closed. The amber LED will flash while the timer is running.
After the timer reaches the programmed value, the output will open. The amber LED will be off.
When the sensor no longer detects material, the output will close and the timer will reset.
4. A Normally Closed sensor with a delay-OFF timer:
While the sensor is not detecting material, the output will be closed and the amber LED will be off.
When the sensor detects material the output will open and the amber LED will be solid.
When the sensor no longer detects material, the timer will start and the output will remain open. The amber LED will flash while the timer is running.
After the timer reaches the programmed value, the output will close and the amber LED will be off.
Interrupting power to the sensor will reset the timer immediately.
